Bankside Chambers would like to congratulate Tiaan Nelson and Andrew Grant on winning the New Zealand Law School Mooting Competition. The competition featured the top senior mooting teams from all of New Zealand’s law schools. Tiaan and Andrew represented the University of Auckland as a result of winning the Auckland competition, the Stout Shield. After five preliminary round moots, Tiaan and Andrew made the final along with Otago.  Justices Kós and Whata, and Julian Miles QC, judged the final on Saturday 3 September. It was a challenging and competitive final, with a very high quality of mooting on display.  Tiaan and Andrew will represent New Zealand at the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington DC in April next year.

Two other law clerks at Bankside Chambers, Sam Jeffs and Carter Pearce, also won the mooting competition last year on behalf of the University of Auckland.  They too represented New Zealand at the Jessup International Law competition in Washington DC last year.
