Welcome to Bankside Chambers

The aim of providing New Zealand’s pre-eminent legal resource sits well with the level of the expertise you’ll find at Bankside Chambers.

The members of Bankside Chambers represent individuals, businesses and public organisations before all courts, administrative bodies, and arbitral tribunals, covering most areas of the law. They provide independent legal advice on transactions and act as arbitrators, mediators and in some other semi-judicial capacities. They also undertake commissioned inquiries.

Members of Bankside Chambers are all independent barristers sole. They are neither a legal firm nor partnership. Recognising their independent status and their strict adherence to principles of confidentiality, members of Chambers may work with, for, or against each other on a particular case. This carefully guarded independence is central to the quality and objectivity of the services provided.

Work is referred to the members of Bankside Chambers in many ways, but there will always be instructions from a solicitor or corporate counsel. Whichever way a referral is made, there will be the guiding desire to brief someone of established national or international reputation in a particular area of law. Such a barrister, arbitrator or mediator may be found at Bankside Chambers.
