Competition Law Competition law encompasses issues arising under various parts of the Commerce Act 1986, including anti-competitive trade practices, mergers and takeovers, and price control, and also cases brought under the Fair Trading Act 1986. In such matters, proceedings often involve the Commerce Commission, which has a variety of adjudicative, investigative, and enforcement functions. Members of chambers have extensive experience working in all of these areas and have appeared as counsel in some of the leading competition law cases decided in New Zealand. Members of Chambers often work as counsel alongside leading forensic economic consultants since economic concepts underpin the key statutory provisions in this area.
