Mary Peters Mary is a specialist in commercial litigation. She has a particular interest and expertise in commercial, company, property and trust litigation.
Mary commenced practice as a barrister sole in 2004. Prior to that, she was a partner in the Litigation Department at Russell McVeagh, Auckland. She joined Russell McVeagh after working at other firms in Wellington, London and New York.
Mary has considerable experience as counsel before a number of tribunals and regulatory bodies; before the High Court; and in mediations and arbitrations. In 2009, she was appointed Deputy Chair of the Real Estate Agents Disciplinary Tribunal.
Recent cases in which she has appeared include representation of: shareholders seeking specific performance of an agreement for the sale and purchase of shares; the Administrator of a German company in respect of assets in New Zealand (High Court); a company in proceedings against a senior employee to preserve and recover stolen funds (High Court); a beneficiary in a claim against trustees (Court of Appeal); and a liquor company in matters relating to future production and marketing rights in respect of a particular brand of spirit (arbitration).
