Kate Davenport Kate specialises in civil and commercial litigation. She has an LLB (Hons) and M.Jur (Distinction). She was admitted to the Bar in 1983.
Her particular interests and expertise include resolution of disputes in the following areas: Land Law, Property disputes, Trust Law, Wills and Estate litigation, Property Relationship claims, Construction Law, claims in Contract and Tort, Administrative Law, Health and ACC claims.
She commenced practice as a Barrister Sole in 1989. Before this time she worked in construction law in London and Bristol. She was previously with a large Auckland firm in its litigation team.
Kate has considerable expertise as Counsel before Tribunals, and the District Court, High Court and Court of Appeal.
Kate is an experienced mediator and is on the LEADR panel of mediators, and on the Weathertight Homes mediation panel. She has carried out many mediations.
Kate has a particular expertise in professional discipline and is a member of the Auckland District Law Society's prosecution panel. Kate is the Deputy Chairperson of the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal and Registered Architects Board. Kate is Chairperson of ECART (Ethics Committee for Assisted Reproductive Techniques).
Kate is co-author of Lexis Nexis Law of Trusts.
Kate is a former Vice-President of the New Zealand Law Society and is on the Council of the New Zealand Bar Association. She is a former Vice President of the Auckland District Law Society.
