John Hannan has joined Bankside Chambers. John joins Bankside from his former role as a senior litigation partner at global law firm DLA Piper, where he previously led the firm's New Zealand employment law team. As well as having particular expertise in employment law John is experienced in property and lease disputes, in particular arbitrations relating to disputed rent reviews. He also has significant experience in Education Law, having acted for and against boards of trustees, universities and other education providers on a wide range of matters including student discipline, employment issues and privacy. John has conducted intellectual property and confidential information litigation including applications for search and freezing orders. John is a trained mediator and company director. Currently he holds a governance role as a Council member of Manukau Institute of Technology. Once upon a time (1977-1988) John was a lecturer/senior lecturer in the Auckland University Law School.
