Bankside Chambers includes senior barristers who have practised almost exclusively at the intellectual property bar for well over 25 years.  Members of Bankside include authors of leading New Zealand texts on intellectual property and barristers who have appeared in most of New Zealand’s major intellectual property litigation in recent years.

All aspects of intellectual property are advised on: trade marks, patents, copyright, designs, confidential information, passing off and Fair Trading Act.

The experience of Bankside barristers covers all aspects of media: print, music, electronic and digital applications.  Barristers have represented and continue to represent industry groups, collectives and individuals as well as RROs and educational establishments.

Barristers with Bankside have advised Government departments and ministries and quasi-governmental bodies.  They have also assisted in the drafting of legislation and appeared before Parliament Select Committees.

Members include a past president of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand, the past chairperson of the New Zealand Film Commission and a current member of the Copyright Tribunal.

Bankside Chambers has four members of the WIPO Domain Dispute Panelists who determine domain name disputes in relation to the international .com, .org, .bus, and .net domain name fields.  A further five members are part of the Panel of Experts for the .nz domain space.
