Bankside Chambers is pleased to announce the opening of its new office in Singapore, located in Maxwell Chambers Suites.  Bankside Chambers is the first New Zealand Chambers to have a permanent presence in Singapore.  The Hon. Paul Heath and Anna Kirk attended the official opening of Maxwell Chambers Suites in Singapore on 8 August 2019.

Singapore is now ranked as one of the top three locations for international arbitration in the world.  The new Singapore International Commercial Court and the signing of the Singapore Mediation Convention in August 2019 reinforce Singapore’s status as a premier destination for international dispute settlement.  With this success, Maxwell Chambers – Singapore’s flagship ADR venue – has expanded its premises to include Maxwell Chambers Suites, next door to the original building.  The Suites host the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, the ICC Singapore and the Singapore International Mediation Centre, as well as several of London’s most prestigious barristers’ sets.    Bankside Chambers’ strong offering in arbitration and mediation makes this location a perfect fit for our members.

Bankside has a long association with Maxwell Chambers, having previously had an office in the original building for a number of years led by Sir David Williams KNZM, QC.  There are now 11 members of Bankside Chambers that have joined the new Singapore office.  These members are: Sir David Williams QC, KNZM; Dr. Campbell McLachlan QC; Hon Paul Heath QC; Sam Carey; Graeme Christie; Simon Foote; Royden Hindle; Mark Kelly; Dr. Anna Kirk; Lauren Lindsay; and John Walton.  The Hon. Chris Finlayson QC and Damian Chesterman are associate members of the Singapore office. The expansion of Bankside’s Singapore office is a natural progression of our expansion here in Auckland and the considerable expertise in ADR (both international and domestic) that we now offer.

Our Singapore members will travel frequently to Singapore to engage in local and international work.  A link to the profiles of these members and their specialities can be found on our website under the tab “Singapore”.
