Christine is an accomplished advocate, having lead trials in the District and High Court and appeared in the Court of Appeal (both in New Zealand and Samoa) and the Privy Council. Her employment law practice has involved her appearing in both the Employment Tribunal and the Employment Court. Practising construction law has involved Christine in a number of major arbitration.

Christine acted as senior counsel for the plaintiffs in these proceedings which resulted in the highest award of damages to date in a leaky building case in favour of the plaintiff owners.

Personal grievance claim arising in context of employee transfer under Part 6A of the Employment Relations Act defended. Significant discussion of what amounts to a ‘sham’ in the context of employment relationships.

An important decision for franchisors and franchisees in the construction industry, dealing with questions of liability of related companies for breeches of original building contract which resulted in a failure to achieve Code compliance.

Successful defence for insurer of claim arising from Christchurch earthquake sequence, reaffirming the nature and basis of insurer’s obligations in respect of repair/re-instatement of earthquake damage to residential property.
