Bankside hosted its second Commercial Women’s Breakfast on Tuesday 17 February at Ortolana, women from across Auckland’s business and legal sectors.
Organised by Bankside commercial barristers Lauren Lindsay and Bridgette White, the initiative was launched in November 2024 with the aim of creating a dedicated space for commercial women in business and in law.
“We wanted to do something that, to our knowledge, hadn’t been done before – to bring together women who practise in commercial law,” says Lauren. “The breakfast provides an opportunity to discuss topical issues, strengthen professional connections, and take something meaningful back to our respective practices.”
This year’s discussion covered a range of current issues, including the use of generative AI, access to justice, and gender inequality within the profession.
Bridgette credits the strong support from the commercial women for the event’s continued success.
Following the positive response to both events to date, planning is already underway for the 2027 edition.
