Bankside Singapore member Hon Paul Heath KC has been appointed as a member of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre’s (SIAC) inaugural specialist panel of arbitrators for restructuring and insolvency disputes.
SIAC has formed the specialist panel of arbitrators specifically with expertise in restructuring and insolvency dispute resolution. Paul joins a panel, comprising international judges and leading insolvency dispute resolution lawyers, which has been established alongside SIAC’s proposed Insolvency Arbitration Protocol (the ‘Protocol’). The Protocol is being developed to offer parties a time-efficient, streamlined, and arbitration-based framework for resolving disputes arising before or during insolvency proceedings.
SIAC is ranked second among the world’s leading arbitral institutions and is the top choice in the Asia-Pacific region. Courts in Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Thailand, the UK, the USA, Vietnam, and many other New York Convention states have recognised and enforced SIAC awards.
Paul’s specialist area of practice is insolvency law and in particular, cross border insolvency. He is one of the co-consulting editors of the leading New Zealand text on insolvency law, Heath & Whale on Insolvency. In 2000, Paul was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. He is also a Life Member of the Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround Association of New Zealand (RITANZ). In recognition of his acknowledged skills in both insolvency and dispute resolution, Paul is currently Co-Chair of INSOL International’s ADR Colloquium.
Paul is one of a number of members of Bankside Chambers available to take arbitration and other assignments in Singapore, as part of Bankside Singapore.
