Bankside barrister Polly Pope has been appointed to the NZ Markets Disciplinary Tribunal, the independent body responsible for determining breaches of NZX’s market rules and imposing penalties.
The members of the Tribunal are appointed with confirmation from the Financial Markets Authority. The Tribunal considers referrals from NZ RegCo concerning the conduct of listed issuers and accredited market participants and determines appropriate penalties for any breaches.
In a statement issued today, NZ RegCo Chief Executive Joost van Amelsfort welcomed Polly’s appointment.
Polly is a respected commercial litigator with extensive expertise in commercial, insolvency, construction, and financial regulatory enforcement matters. She regularly acts in complex, high-value disputes and regulatory proceedings.
“I am grateful to be able to contribute to the success and reputation of New Zealand’s markets through a well-functioning disciplinary model,” Polly says. “This is an opportunity for me to make a contribution using my experience as counsel in regulatory enforcement matters as well as my decision-making experience as an arbitrator."
